We talked about this video on last week's Weekly ForceCast. Now, see it for yourself! It all started with an email from faithful ForceCast listener Kyle:
Hey guys,
Just a quick one for you, not sure if you have seen this or not.
This happened on television a month or so ago I believe, but I thought I'd wait to see if you mentioned it.
I came across it on the BBC News website in May, the actual story was about this presenter getting in some trouble for the apparent salute she gives during a morning television show and the clip was (and still is) posted on YouTube as a link from said story.
Anyhow, it's only a very short clip and it's all pretty self explanatory,
I thought it may bring you a little amusement, as it did to me when I first saw it.
( I reckon she could be a ForceCast listener and it just slipped out, I know it happens to me a lot too :D )
Thanks for the great ( and by great I mean GREAT ) work you guys do and may the force be with you.
Kyle (UK)
PS. I actually LOVE Jimmys Yob impression.
Thanks for the link, Kyle. This incident made waves in Great Britain and was covered by a variety of newspapers and blogs. Check out what the Daily Mirror had to say about it:
Bumbling Holly Willoughby had viewers cringing as she got tongue-tied – then blundered by making a Nazi salute live on telly show This Morning.
Her blooper came after she stumbled over her words while talking about this weekend’s weather predictions.
“We are set, apparently, for a heatwave,” she began, clearly excited. “According to the force – casters... force casters?” After struggling to say “forecasters”, she tried to make a joke, blurting out: “May the force be with you!” Bizarrely, she accompanied it with a Nazi salute – while still beaming at the camera totally unaware of her slip-up.
We've heard of grass-roots marketing before but this is ridiculous!
This event reminded faithful ForceCast listener Aaron of an image he'd seen before...
I just got finished listening to the show and laughed when you were talking about the "confusion" out there between forecast and Forcecast. It reminded me of this picture my wife sent me from Failblog.org
Thanks,
Aaron "B'omarr" Monk
